Prof. N. Mahinpey (UCalgary, P.h.D, P.Eng, FCIC) holds an NSERC IRC in Novel CO2 Capture Technologies for Oil Sands Operations and has over 20 years of collective experience with industry and academia. In 2022, he was awarded the Schulich Industry Research Chair in CO 2 Capture Technologies. He actively promotes national and international high-caliber research programs in the CO 2 capture and conversion area and alternative clean energy solutions.
Prof. Mahinpey has developed transformative solid sorbents for low-temperature and high-temperature, direct-air carbon capture—reducing emissions by 47%, capture costs
by 60%, and energy dispensed by 50%. Further, his innovative Chemical Looping Combustion method for high-temperature CO 2 capture demonstrates high energy efficiency. Recently, these innovations have produced eight patents and invaluable mentorship for dozens of trainees.
His expertise involves the application of catalysts/materials, chemical reaction engineering, kinetics, and mass transfer to energy and environment fields. Prof. Mahinpey has served as Member of Technical Advisory Group at different companies.
He is the Associate Editor of the Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering and also a
member of the CSChE Board of Directors (Director of Subject Divisions and Local Sections). Prof. Mahinpey has been the recipient of many awards in university, national and international levels.

Harold Krenkel is a Professional Engineer with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering and has over thirty years of experience in developing innovative, practical solutions across a number of sectors through the application of technical expertise. He has held numerous leadership positions both domestically and internationally including commercial scale processing plant start-ups, operations, and facility development. Leadership roles have included responsibility for strategic planning, financial management and reporting, client and partner relations, facility and asset management, health and safety, communications, human resources, and performance management. His experience includes connecting industry, academia, and government in the execution of applied research projects and ultimate commercial deployment.

In his free time, Harold enjoys spending time with his family doing outdoor activities including camping and hiking.

Fardin Seyed Najafi is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of extensive experience in the petrochemical industry. Armed with a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), he has demonstrated expertise in various phases of engineering and construction, start-up operations, research and development. Throughout his illustrious career, he has played pivotal roles in diverse projects, showcasing his versatility and proficiency. He has excelled as a Project Manager and Technical Manager, particularly in the fields of olefin plant, polymeric plant operations, and methanol plant. His commitment to excellence has been a driving force behind the success of numerous initiatives in the petrochemical sector. His leadership, combined with a deep understanding of both the technical and managerial aspects of the industry, has contributed significantly to the growth and innovation within the projects under his purview

VP of Sustainability and Carbon Management

Dr. Isgandarova brings 25 years of the combined experience in R&D, program development, environmental management, and sustainable resources development. Over the course of her career, Dr. Isgandarova had received multiple recognitions for her research and innovation ideas, including fellowships from Alberta Innovates Health Solutions (AHFMR), Max-Planck Society and the Merck-Frosst Research Award.

Dr. Isgandarova owns and operates a consulting firm, which focuses on environmental and sustainability education.
